Breaking Boundaries: Abby Cook Takes on the London Marathon with Blue Peter Spirit

Abby Cook, a beloved star from the iconic children's show Blue Peter, is about to embark on an incredible challenge - completing the London Marathon. On Sunday, April 21, 2024, Abby will tackle the 26-mile course in a unique and inspiring way: wheelchair racing.

Abby's passion for sports, particularly wheelchair racing, was evident during her audition for Blue Peter. Her dream of conquering the London Marathon has finally become a reality, and she can't contain her excitement as she joins the ranks of Blue Peter presenters who have previously attempted this gruelling race.

Training for a marathon is no easy feat, especially when it involves wheelchair racing. Abby understands the challenges that lie ahead, but her adventurous spirit, which embodies the essence of Blue Peter, keeps her motivated and determined.

Abby knows that success requires the right guidance and support, so she has sought the mentorship of British para athlete and world champion, Sammi Kinghorn MBE. With Sammi's expertise and guidance, Abby is confident that she will not only finish the race but also leave a lasting impact.

Abby is following in the footsteps of previous Blue Peter presenters who have tackled the London Marathon, including Peter Duncan in 1981 and Lindsey Russell in 2015. She aims to contribute to the legacy of these brave individuals and inspire future generations to push their limits.

The London Marathon is a widely anticipated event that captures the attention of millions. This year, viewers can catch all the action and exclusive updates on Abby's journey through the comprehensive coverage on the BBC in April. Blue Peter on CBBC and BBC iPlayer will also provide exclusive content, allowing fans to follow Abby's progress every step of the way.
