After making waves on the international film festival circuit, the highly anticipated Icelandic/Estonian co-production, "Driving Mum," is set to captivate UK audiences as it hits cinemas on March 1st, 2024.

Directed by the talented Hilmar Oddsson, the film boasts a stellar cast featuring Þröstur Leó Gunnarsson, Kristbjörg Kjeld, Hera Hilmar, and Tómas Lemarquis. These accomplished actors bring to life the heartwarming and comedic tale that had its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Festival in 2022.

"Driving Mum" not only received acclaim at its premiere but also garnered significant recognition at subsequent festivals. The film secured "Best Original Score" and the prestigious "Grand Prix for Best Original Film" at Tallinn Black Nights Festival. It further triumphed with the title of "Best Film" at the Nordic Council in 2023 and claimed the "Media Choice Award for Film" and "Audience Choice Award for Film" at the Shanghai International Film Festival later that year. The Cleveland International Film Festival also acknowledged the film with a nomination for "Best Feature Film" in 2023.

The storyline revolves around Jon, whose world is turned upside down when his mother, the guiding force in his life, passes away. In a bid to honour her final wish, Jon embarks on a poignant journey across Iceland to lay her to rest in their ancestral village. The trip becomes a transformative experience for Jon, adding new dimensions to his existence.

Founder of Tull Stories, Jonny Tull, expressed excitement about bringing "Driving Mum" to UK audiences. He commented, "Driving Mum is a beautiful film. It tells a terrific, idiosyncratic yet emotional tale and does so with laughter, tears, and that wry sense of Icelandic humor that we have come to love in the UK and Ireland. I’m thrilled that Tull Stories gets to bring Driving Mum to audiences, and we hope that its beautiful cinematography, the stunning scenery of Iceland, and its very human story all make for a great night in the cinema for UK filmgoers."

As the film gears up for its UK release, cinephiles can look forward to a unique blend of cinematic excellence, captivating performances, and the picturesque landscapes of Iceland. "Driving Mum" promises to be a must-watch, delivering an unforgettable experience at the cinemas starting March 1st, 2024.
