Ring-Tailed Lemurs Take Easter Egg Hunt to New Heights at West Midlands Safari Park
The residents of West Midlands Safari Park are getting ready for some egg-citing fun this Easter. But this year, the park has taken the celebrations to new heights, or should we say, new heights of trees, as the ring-tailed lemurs embark on their very own egg hunt extravaganza!
In what can only be described as pure egg-citement, twelve ring-tailed lemurs were recently treated to an enriching experience like no other as they scoured their Lemur Woods habitat in search of hidden treasure: hard-boiled eggs meticulously stashed away by their keepers.
This wasn't your ordinary egg hunt though. The park's dedicated keepers spared no effort in ensuring that the lemurs' natural instincts were catered to. Eggs were strategically placed among logs, branches, and piles of leaves, mimicking the challenges of foraging in the wild.
Jen Albutt, one of the keepers at the park, expressed her excitement about involving the lemurs in the Easter festivities: 'At West Midlands Safari Park, we like to get our animals involved with the seasonal celebrations. For Easter this year, we encouraged the lemurs to join in with some egg-citing enrichment.'
And egg-citing it was indeed! Known for their inquisitive and playful nature, the lemurs wasted no time in sniffing out their egg treats. Some opted for a refined approach, delicately savouring either the yolk or the white, while others dove right in, devouring the entire egg in one go! And of course, there were those who simply couldn't resist the temptation to turn the egg hunt into a playful game, rolling eggs around with sheer joy.

Lemurs, classified as 'endangered' due to various threats including habitat loss and hunting, will benefit greatly from this enrichment activity. Not only does it stimulate their minds, but it also allows them to engage in behaviours vital for their survival in the wild.
In line with their commitment to wildlife conservation, West Midlands Safari Park partners with the Lemur Conservation Association (AEECL) and makes annual donations to support lemur conservation efforts, ensuring that these adorable primates have a fighting chance for the future.
If you think the Easter fun ends with the lemurs, think again! Guests visiting the park this year can also join in the Eggstravaganza with interactive trails, competitions, giveaways, and even a chance to meet the Easter bunny himself, Bramble! Plus, there are egg-cellent prizes up for grabs, including stays at the Safari Lodges, Annual Passes, retail vouchers, and VIP animal experiences.
So hop on over to West Midlands Safari Park this Easter for an unforgettable adventure filled with egg hunts, lemur antics, and a whole lot of fun! Remember, Easter activities are included in the admission charge, and booking online guarantees the best prices. And with children under three entering for free, there's no excuse not to join in the Easter Eggstravaganza!
