The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy: Your Prescription for Laughter and Sci-Fi Absurdity

Get ready to scrub in for a hilarious and intergalactic medical adventure like no other with the upcoming adult animated series, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy. Prime Video has just released the trailer, giving fans a taste of the sci-fi comedy that promises to deliver a healthy dose of laughter and absurdity. Premiering exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories on February 23rd, 2024, this highly anticipated series is set to be a must-watch for all pop culture enthusiasts.

Created by Emmy Award-winning writer Cirocco Dunlap and produced by Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne's Animal Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy follows the wild medical misadventures of Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak, two eccentric aliens and best friends who are renowned surgeons in the galaxy. Brace yourself for anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, deep-space STIs, and a highly dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case that puts existence itself at risk.

But this show is not just about laughs and absurdity; it delves into deeper emotional themes as well. Dunlap describes The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy as a natural place to explore mental illness, chosen and rejected family dynamics, and the quest for identity amidst the chaos of turning into the last person you slept with. The series combines the best of sci-fi storytelling with heart and hilarity, offering warmth, comfort, and plenty of laughter in the face of life's greatest joke: the ever-present nearness of death.

And if the talented and star-studded cast is anything to go by, we're in for a treat. The guest stars who will be scrubbing in for Season One include Tracee Ellis Ross, Bowen Yang, Abbi Jacobson, Jay Ellis, Andrew Dismukes, Lennon Parham, Gary Anthony Williams, and John Waters. These familiar faces will add their own brand of wit and charm to an already stellar lineup of series regulars, including Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, Keke Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, Kieran Culkin, and Sam Smith.

But that's not all! Fans of the Culkin brothers will be delighted to see a family reunion on screen. Kieran Culkin, who lends his voice to the character Plowp, will be joined by his real-life brothers Macaulay Culkin, Rory Culkin, Christian Culkin, and Shane Culkin.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is not your average animated series. It's a one-of-a-kind blend of sci-fi, comedy, and emotional depth that pushes the boundaries of what we expect from adult animation. With its unique storytelling, talented cast, and a touch of surrealism, this series is sure to captivate audiences and carve its place as a pop culture phenomenon.
