Disney+ recently released the official trailer and key art for the highly anticipated drama series 'Black Cake.' Based on Charmaine Wilkerson's best-selling novel, this gripping series is set to premiere all episodes on January 31 exclusively on Disney+ in the UK.

'Black Cake' takes viewers on an immersive journey through a family drama and murder mystery that spans decades. With a diverse cast and a global setting in Jamaica, Italy, Scotland, England, Wales, and Southern California, the series promises to captivate audiences with its rich and multi-faceted storytelling.

Behind the adaptation of 'Black Cake' are industry powerhouses Marissa Jo Cerar, from Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films, and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment. Cerar, who also serves as the showrunner for the series, wrote the adaptation that intricately weaves together the lives of its compelling characters.

The story kicks off in the late 1960s with a runaway bride named Covey disappearing off the coast of Jamaica. Meanwhile, in present-day California, we meet Eleanor Bennett, a widow who leaves her two estranged children a flash drive filled with previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America. This revelation challenges their understanding of their family's origin and sets the stage for an enthralling exploration of love, loss, and uncovering hidden truths.

The stellar cast of 'Black Cake' brings the characters to life with exceptional talent. Mia Isaac, Adrienne Warren, Chipo Chung, Ashley Thomas, Lashay Anderson, Faith Alabi, and Glynn Turman take on key roles in this eight-episode series. Additionally, Ahmed Eljah, Simon Wan, and Sonita Henry make appearances as recurring guest stars, adding further depth to the narrative.

With Marissa Jo Cerar serving as showrunner and executive producer, along with industry icons Oprah Winfrey, Aaron Kaplan, Carla Gardini, Brian Morewitz, Charmaine Wilkerson, and Michael Lohmann, the creative team behind 'Black Cake' guarantees a series that is not to be missed.

'Black Cake' is a Two Drifters, Harpo Films, and Kapital Entertainment production and has received funding and support from the Welsh Government via Creative Wales. This partnership ensures that the series will showcase the beauty and talent of Wales alongside its diverse and global storylines.
